Rajan Jha is a Professor in the Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, India. Following his postdoctoral research at ICFO- The Institute of Photonics Sciences Barcelona, he established an internationally recognized research program and has made pioneering contributions towards classical and quantum interferometers, micro/nano-structured integrated fiber photonics systems, and plasmonic technologies, significantly advancing both fundamental science and technological innovation. His work has profoundly influenced the design and development of next-generation photonic devices/optical technologies and has resulted in 13 patents (6 granted), 165 SCI journals publications, ~120 conference papers, ~ 70 invited/keynote lectures along with 1 book & 3 books chapters, which resulted in over 9,700 citations with h-index of 51, placing him among the leading contributors to contemporary optics research.
In recognition of his outstanding scientific contributions, he received the prestigious ICO–ICTP Gallieno Denardo Award (2015) for breakthrough advances in optical sensors & waveguide. He is a Fellow of OPTICA (formerly the Optical Society of America), one of the highest international honors in photonics, reflecting his global leadership and sustained excellence in the field. His international standing is further demonstrated by several highly competitive fellowships, including the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship & the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellowship. He serves as a Regular Associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, and is a Young Associate/Member of all the National Science Academies of India, underscoring the broad recognition of his scientific achievements at both national and international levels. In recognition of his sustained record of high-impact research and scientific leadership, Professor Jha was awarded the prestigious SERB STAR Fellowship (Physical Sciences) by the Government of India, one of the country’s distinctions for excellent researchers. Complementing his distinguished research career, he has established a strong international reputation through editorial leadership and scholarly service, serving as Associate Editor, Guest Editor, and Editorial Board Member for leading journals published by Nature, American Institute of Physics, Optical Society of America, IEEE, Springer and Optical Society of India.

Following his postdoctoral research at ICFO- The Institute of Photonics Sciences Barcelona, he established an internationally recognized research program and has made pioneering contributions towards classical and quantum interferometers, micro/nano-structured integrated fiber photonics systems, and plasmonic technologies, significantly advancing both fundamental science and technological innovation. His work has profoundly influenced the design and development of next-generation photonic devices/optical technologies and has resulted in 13 patents (6 granted), 165 SCI journals publications, ~120 conference papers, ~ 70 invited/keynote lectures along with 1 book & 3 books chapters, which resulted in over 9,700 citations with h-index of 51, placing him among the leading contributors to contemporary optics research.
In recognition of his outstanding scientific contributions, he received the prestigious ICO–ICTP Gallieno Denardo Award (2015) for breakthrough advances in optical sensors & waveguide. He is a Fellow of OPTICA (formerly the Optical Society of America), one of the highest international honors in photonics, reflecting his global leadership and sustained excellence in the field. His international standing is further demonstrated by several highly competitive fellowships, including the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Fellowship & the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellowship. He serves as a Regular Associate of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy, and is a Young Associate/Member of all the National Science Academies of India, underscoring the broad recognition of his scientific achievements at both national and international levels. In recognition of his sustained record of high-impact research and scientific leadership, Professor Jha was awarded the prestigious SERB STAR Fellowship (Physical Sciences) by the Government of India, one of the country’s distinctions for excellent researchers. Complementing his distinguished research career, he has established a strong international reputation through editorial leadership and scholarly service, serving as Associate Editor, Guest Editor, and Editorial Board Member for leading journals published by Nature, American Institute of Physics, Optical Society of America, IEEE, Springer and Optical Society of India.
