Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is engaged in diverse research areas, including Physical, Organic, Inorganic, and Green Chemistry. Research initiatives focus on the design and development of metal complexes for catalysis and anti-cancer applications, functionalization of nanoparticles for biosensing, coordination chemistry, magnetic materials and magnetostructural correlations, bio-inspired coordination chemistry, catalysis for fine chemicals, and molecular recognition for synthesizing exotic organic and organic-inorganic hybrid materials.

A team of highly energetic faculty members guides students through rigorous academic programs and cutting-edge research projects. The department offers a a BSc-BEd ITEP program in Chemistry, Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. program in Chemistry, and PhD program in Chemistry and Biosciences emphasizing providing various learning and training platforms for students to engage in advanced research and contribute to the field’s development. The department actively seeks interested doctoral and post-doctoral candidates along with students for short and long term projects to do cutting-edge research work in various areas of Chemistry.
